Since I am the person that fueled the new debate, this is my opinion:

I believe that some technical words, that are new, should not be translated.
For example: megabyte, bit, etc. But other words that have a clear definition
and concept should be translated.

There are people in many Spanish speaking countries that do want to use
certain Spanish translations and not the English word. I know for a fact that
Spanish translations are used in Spain, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Mexico.

Specifics:

I believe the following words should be translated because they have Spanish
translations that are also widely extended:

E-mail = correo electrónico
Plug-in =  Plug-in (conector)
Backup = copia de seguridad
Password = Contraseña

Powered by Geeklog = Otra web montada con Geeklog. (this is not literal, but
it grasps the concept).
