Dear Friend:

Several weeks ago, the Cuomo administration released its draft New York State Energy Plan.

It’s really bad.

The plan doesn’t explicitly endorse fracking in New York. But it completely embraces natural gas from other states. It anticipates a massive buildout of power plants, pipelines, and other infrastructure that would deepen our reliance on dirty fossil fuels. It lacks policies or any vision for transitioning to renewable energy.  And, in doing so, it dooms New York to failure to meet critical greenhouse gas reduction goals.

We must demand that Cuomo do better.

Over the next three weeks there will six public hearings across the state, and we must be there in full force with the message that fracked gas equals climate catastrophe and environmental hazards, regardless of what state it’s from, and that Cuomo must lead New York on the path to renewable energy.
