A quick plug for Benchmarking Intangibles---I got it and read it and believe it can be a valuable aid to help a reader understand, teach, explain, and apply modeling concepts in a very practical way. If you work in the corporate realm and deal with performance management, this is a great tool in your efforts to define, manage, and improve perfromance. We're just starting to use benchmarking as a way to imrpove performance for correctional trainers and training designers. Results aren't in, but even the discussion around it has evoked ideas and actions for better perforamcne.

Benchmarking Intangibles

BENCHMARKING INTANGIBLES THE ART OF MEASURING QUALITY By L. Michael Hall, Ph.D. Prefaces by James Lawley and Dr. Angus McLeod How do you know that you have improved or progressed? What lets you know that you are performing at a higher level than you did previously? How do you know that the quality of your leadership is better? How do you know that you are taking your skills to the next level of development? How do you measure the quality of your listening or supporting? How do you know that your coaching skills are improving? How do you know where they are today? These benchmarking questions are about measurement and about scaling things that are not immediately tangible. While there are many books on benchmarking tangible things, this is the first book on measuring intangible qualities. Benchmarking Intangibles will introduce you to the processes of benchmarking intangible experiences, how to measure the most important things —the things that count most which are the most difficult to count. It can be done and you can learn how to do it. Learn “how to use the process of benchmarking to stalk excellence —from individuals to large organizations. [Michael Hall has produced] a detail operational manual about those oh so important distinctions that seem oh so hard to measure.” James Lawley, NLP Trainer, developer, and author of Clean Language “In this book, Dr. Hall breaks new ground with confidence as well he might. His exposure and illustration of process is elegance itself, it reads like a journey from darkness into light.”Dr. Angus McLeod.Visiting Professor of Coaching and Supervisor of Applied Research Birmingham City Business School. Answer: Benchmarking Intangibles is for anyone who wants to be able to identify how it is possible to create benchmarks for things that are not “things,” but intangible experiences. The book serves to provide evidence for the credibility of Meta-Coaching as a methodology. It uses NLP and Neuro-Semantic models to establish the processes whereby anyone can benchmark any of the things that we know are the most important things of all and that add true quality and richness to our lives. Question: Where do I order on Line? Answer: Go to www.neurosemantics.com – “Business” “Pay a Statement” $20 per book, $5 SH in USA; $14 SH outside of the USA. Or go to: http://www.neurosemantics.com/benchmarking-intangibles and order directly. Question: Are you offering a special price for this new book? Answer: Yes, for a limited time --- June and July 2011 only, the book is discounted by 20% and to make the offer even richer, for that period of time, you can also order ONE of the other books in the Meta-Coaching series for 20% off. So what is normally $25 is $20 and what would be $50 is $40 until the end of July. Question: Can I order more than one copy? If so, how do I calculate the cost? Answer: 3 of the books can be put into one of the shipping packages ($5 in US, $14 outside US). So calculate extra postage and use the “Business” “Pay a Statement” if ordering more. And yes, each one at $20 (20 percent off). If you have questions, write to Michael Hall directly (see email address below). L.
