We have a vibrant panel of speakers to talk about the #LessisMoreNY Act:
Melanie Dominguez, community organizer from the Katal Center for Equity, Health & Justice; Emelissa Curo*, member of the Katal Ctr.; prof. Geraldine Downey, Director of the Center for Justice at Columbia University; Ivan Calaff*, staff at the Center for Justice; and NYCLU Executive Director Donna Lieberman.
*persons adversely affected by the current parole system.
 
The act has passed both houses of the legislature in June and now only needs Gov. Kathy Hochul's signature to become law.
 
The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. sharp; the first half hour will be club business, with the forum starting at 8:00pm.
 
Come learn about this commonsense Criminal Justice reform bill, which has been endorsed by several D.A.'s and many other law enforcement officials, as well as over 300 civil rights organizations and community groups, and join us in Taking Action and asking Gov. Hochul to sign it ASAP.
 
State Sen. Brian Benjamin – being sworn in today as our next Lt. Gov. - is the #LessIsMoreNYsponsor in the Senate.  State Sen. Robert Jackson and Assemblymember Danny O'Donnell are co-sponsors of the bill.
