   - In his State of the State address, Governor Cuomo announced a budget
   proposal that includes goals of 70% clean electricity generation by 2030
   and 100% by 2040

   - Two important bills are currently before the NY legislature: the Climate
   and Community Protection Act

   50% clean energy for electricity by 2030 and 100% clean energy from all
   sources by 2050) and the NY Off Fossil Fuels Act
   <https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2017/s5908> (NYOFF) (A5105 /
   S5908) (100% renewable energy from all sources by 2030).


   - On February 6, the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Subcommittee
   on Environment and Climate Change (chaired by Paul Tonko (D-NY20)) will
   hold a hearing entitled "Time for Action: Addressing the Environmental &
   Economic Effects of Climate Change

   - Also on February 6, the House Natural Resources Committee (chaired by
   Raul Grijalva (D-AZ03)) will hold a hearing on "Climate Change: Impacts

   - On Feb. 11, *significant new legislation* will be introduced in the NY
   State Senate (stay tuned!).


   - And Senator Ed Markey (D-Mass) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
   (D-NY14) are planning to introduce Green New Deal legislation

   in their respective chambers *next week*.
