Dear Aya,

I have a couple exciting pieces of news to share on ways you can make your voice heard in our neighborhood:

Yesterday, I continued the ongoing conversation on how to address the inequalities in our parks system as a guest on The Brian Lehrer Show<http://www.votelevine.com/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wnyc.org%2Fstory%2Fparks-equity-big-and-small&utm_campaign=05_14_14&n=2&e=ae65de78bade14b255c8a55333df74831e1f0839&utm_source=marklevine&utm_medium=email>. In case you missed it, you can listen to my segment here<http://www.votelevine.com/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wnyc.org%2Fstory%2Fparks-equity-big-and-small%2F&utm_campaign=05_14_14&n=3&e=ae65de78bade14b255c8a55333df74831e1f0839&utm_source=marklevine&utm_medium=email>. I reiterated that as Chair of the City Council's Parks Committee, I will keep pushing for<http://www.votelevine.com/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.capitalnewyork.com%2Farticle%2Fcity-hall%2F2014%2F05%2F8545118%2Fmayor-continues-city-parks-funding-policies-now&utm_campaign=05_14_14&n=4&e=ae65de78bade14b255c8a55333df74831e1f0839&utm_source=marklevine&utm_medium=email> both the $80 million dollars that Mayor de Blasio has promised for improvements to underserved neighborhood parks, and also an additional $27.5 million dollars to help support parks around the city with more gardeners, maintenance workers and patrol officers.

Join the discussion! How do you most commonly use your park and how can we make it better? Let us know on Facebook<http://www.votelevine.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fvotelevine&utm_campaign=05_14_14&n=5&e=ae65de78bade14b255c8a55333df74831e1f0839&utm_source=marklevine&utm_medium=email> and Twitter<http://www.votelevine.com/r?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FMarkLevineNYC&utm_campaign=05_14_14&n=6&e=ae65de78bade14b255c8a55333df74831e1f0839&utm_source=marklevine&utm_medium=email>.

Ever wanted to decide how to spend your tax dollars? Well now you can! Together we will discuss local needs, develop proposals, and vote on projects worth over $1 million dollars in improvements to Council District 7.

It's called Participatory Budgeting and you can learn more about how it works here<http://www.votelevine.com/r?u=http%3A%2F%2Fpbnyc.org%2F&utm_campaign=05_14_14&n=7&e=ae65de78bade14b255c8a55333df74831e1f0839&utm_source=marklevine&utm_medium=email>. In order to make wise decisions and get input from everyone in the community, the process will take place over the course of a year and it's beginning in just a few weeks. I hope you can make it to one of our three upcoming planning meetings; your input is vital to getting it started!
