HEALTHY CHOICES, HEALTHY LIFE
**Thursday, May 5th, 6:00 – 8:00 PM**
	- The Cornell University Cooperative Extension gives a hands-on 
presentation on preventing chronic disease and discusses effective 
strategies to improve nutrition and health
	- The American Diabetes Association presents important information on 
the topic of diabetes
MEN'S HEALTH
**Thursday, May 12th, 6:00 – 8:00 PM**
	- Harlem Hospital's Hip Hop Public Health Education Center discusses 
Environment, Access, and Health: How do the options and offerings in a 
community impact health and well-being?

SHARE, an organization of breast and ovarian cancer survivors dedicated 
to helping women with breast, metastatic breast, and ovarian cancer, 
offers free telephone support hotlines, educational programs, support

CATHEDRAL COMMUNITY CARES

- Looking for a place to donate used clothing? Cathedral Community Cares 
at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine accepts casual clothing, 
interview/professional clothing, shoes, and accessories, from 10AM to 
5PM, Monday-Friday. The office is located at the end of the walkway 
directly south of the Cathedral, across from the security booth.
- Cathedral Community Cares also coordinates a Walking Club to encourage 
physical activity, in addition to health and nutrition education in the 
community. Starting **May 23rd**, the Club will meet on Mondays at 
5:30PM and Thursdays at 6:30PM at 112th Street and Amsterdam Avenue in

RECYCLING EVENT FOR COMPUTERS, ELECTRONICS, AND OTHER ASSORTED ITEMS

Come recycle your electronics, computers, and other hard-to-recycle 
items, and help protect the environment from the potentially harmful 
e-waste!
***Sunday, May 22nd, from 12PM to 5PM, at Amsterdam Avenue & 110th 
Street.***
Acceptable items include, among others: Computers and peripherals 
(computer mice, printers, etc.), TVs, Compact fluorescent light bulbs, 
cell phones, batteries, and textiles.

ASSEMBLY MEMBER O'DONNELL'S READING CELEBRATION EVENTS

Assembly Member O'Donnell's Reading Celebration Events for participants 
in his Annual Community Reading Challenge for Pre-K – 8th Grade readers 
are underway! This year's challenge stayed green, featuring 
environmentally-friendly reading lists and streamlined e-materials 
available for download online.
The third and final book event will be held this **Friday, May 6th**, 
from 3:30PM to 4:30PM at the Bloomingdale Branch Library (150 West 100th 
Street).
Come join Assembly Member O'Donnell for free entertainment, healthy 
snacks, and book talk!
IT'S MY PARK DAY

On **May 21st**, join thousands of New Yorkers who come together to 
volunteer and celebrate their neighborhood parks. Volunteer activities 
range from horticulture to painting projects, along with a variety of 
free events, including kayaking, dance performances, more.
