Just last night, our Republican opponent, Dan Donovan held a secret $10,000-a-plate fundraising gala with Senate Republican Minority Leader Dean Skelos at an exclusive hotel in Albany. By cozying up to Dean Skelos, the ultimate Albany insider who has repeatedly blocked ethics reform, Mr. Donovan once again illustrates his do-as-I-say, not-as-I-do approach to cleaning up our government.

As one of the biggest Paladino cheerleaders, Republican Dean Skelos is a longtime enemy of reform in Albany. Like Dan Donovan, Skelos is anti-choice, and has stood with Wall Street fat cats and the insurance industry at the expense of the middle class time and time again. Not surprisingly, Skelos' efforts to kill reform may have to do with his own financial interests. As was just reported in the Daily News, the Republican Senate boss and his wife own shares in 14 companies with a combined 111 state contracts worth more than $2 billion.

With so much at stake this year, we cannot afford to turn back the clock and put the Attorney General’s office in the hands of someone who is a product of the old-boys Staten Island political clubhouse.

Fortunately, there is a superior alternative. Eric Schneiderman has fought for ethics reform throughout his career. From leading the charge to expel a corrupt senator for the first time in history, to writing the most sweeping ethics reform legislation in a generation to protecting our tax dollars by passing the toughest enforcement legislation in the nation to target waste, fraud and abuse in government, it’s clear that Eric is the only real reformer in this race.
