Debbie Almontaser is the former principal of the Khalil Gibran International Academy . She frequently lectures, serves on panels and facilitates teacher and public workshops on conflict resolution, Agusto Boal’s Theater of the Oppressed, Arab culture, and Islam locally and at national and international conferences. She has received numerous honors, including the Pax Christi Metro New York 2008 Peacemaker Award and the Jews for Racial and Economic Justice's 2007 Rabbi Marshall T. Meyer Risk-Taker Award.
