[Rantman] Today was a climactic day of change for climate change

In the last few days we see the faltering steps that amount to a real
stumble on the march of civilization:

1. The Supreme Court abandoned the future of climate cases.
2 Al Gore is really getting mad now - criticizes Obama directly.
3. Websites calling for "Decisive Ecological Warfare" - Forceful
action - Deep Green Resistance
4 Climate Scientist persecuted - lawsuit filed by conservative group.
5. For a backdrop on this day - see the persistence of Arizona fires,
Texas drought, North Dakota floods, summer just started.

=====================
1. The Supreme Court abandoned centuries of jurisprudence when it
struck down a simple nuisance law case - Kivilina v Exxon - saying that
any damages caused by global warming are not actionable - even if we
know it is caused by CO2 emissions coming from carbon fuel. Instead
it will be up to the EPA to set emission rules. The EPA is 20 years
behind the times and is itself a political agency established by
Congress. As soon as the EPA does something significantly painful it
will be eliminated.

The high court has been on a rampage of ideological Shock and Awe -
first by assigning individual rights to corporations, then yesterday in
decertifying women as a class in the Wal-Mart discrimination suit. And
now -- by refusing to touch global warming liability issues - it
abandons the future. The plunder by ideologues has been redoubled.

2. Al Gore speaks more strongly than ever in an excellent screed in
which he tells it like it is.

"What hangs in the balance is the future of civilization as we know it."

3. The emergence of a militant, forceful resistance movement

Rising Tide is an international, all-volunteer, grassroots network of
groups and individuals who organize locally, promote community-based
solutions to the climate crisis and take direct action to confront the
root causes of climate change

have to become more militant and perhaps resort to physical acts of
confrontation with the corporate leviathan." - Chris Hedges

4. Scientists persecuted:
Conservative group sues NASA for climate scientist's records

A conservative group is suing NASA for records related to the outside
advocacy and compensation of Dr. James Hansen, a prominent advocate for
strong action to curb greenhouse-gas emissions.
In a lawsuit filed Tuesday, the American Tradition Institute alleges
NASA has shirked requests for records about Hansen's compliance with
ethics and disclosure obligations as they relate to payments for
speeches and other work outside the government.
