ANNOUNCING THE NEW TRAINING
THE 5-MINUTE MANAGER
How many problems could you get off your plate if you could "get to the
heart of the matter' in 5-minutes? Imagine how much time that could open up
for you? While not all problems can be solved in 5 minutes, some can. All
you need to do that is the skill-set for getting through the noise to the
meaning behind a problem. Then shift to a more productive meaning which can
resolve the problem. That's what the 5-minute conversation is all about.
Now this 4-day training will not make you fully competent, but it will give
you all the tools you will need to become competent as a 5-minute manager in
leading problem-solving conversations. The 5-minute conversation itself is
a focused problem-solving conversation that's designed to elicit a
well-formed problem. And when a problem is well-formed, it is already
half-solved.
For this coaching conversation, a manager will take off his Manager's hat
and put on a Facilitator's hat. In making this shift, the manager will
develop the needed coaching orientation and skills and all without needing
to become a professional coach. It will expand the manger's repertoire of
skills making him or her a more effective manager.
The 4-Day Training
Day 1: The Well-Formed Problem Experience
How to enter the conversation and connect with a person.
How to do the Manager / Coach shift of perspective.
How to lead a well-formed problem conversation.
Day 2: The Different Kinds of Conversations
How to engage in one of the 14 problem-solving conversations.
How to get through the noise to the core.
How to ask powerful questions to get to the meaning.
Day 3: The Language of Problem-Solving
How to become a self-actualizing manager.
How to be a mirror and how to mirror-the core of feedback.
How to ask precision questions for clarity and accuracy.
Day 4: Thinking as a Well-Trained Problem-Solver
How to recognize how a person thinks (their meta-programs)
How to take a person into their mind to access meaning.
How to develop a critical or torpedo question.
Within the training there are lots of experiential practices. Throughout
the process there will be a dozens of practice conversations for developing
your skills. And for anyone who wants to measure their development,
benchmarks have been set for the 5-minute conversation which a support team
of Meta-Coaches will be making available.
For the 5-minute conversation, a set of 7 highly focused questions provides
you the structure for how to get to the heart of things in a streamlined
way. Learning this prevents the conversation from going astray, chasing
rabbits, wasting time, and/or getting lost in irrelevant details. With
these 7 focused questions you will be able to ask problem-solving questions
which will identify the actual problem and set up a direction for a
solution.
The 5-Minute Manager Training is based on the cognitive psychology of
Neuro-Semantics. It will be facilitated by L. Michael Hall, Ph.D. who
designed it as well as founded Meta-Coaching (now in 77 countries) and both
the Neuro-Semantic Leadership Diploma and the Self-Actualization Diploma.
