DEEP DIVE THINKING
USING THE META PLACE

The great majority of people think and live on the surface of consciousness.  Nearly all of their thinking and feeling is focused on what’s happening immediately on the outside—what people say and do, what’s happening at work or in the community, what’s happening with their favorite sports teams, what’s happening in the economy, in politics, etc.  Their everyday experiences are almost exclusively outside—in.  If they do turn inward—it is mostly to their physical state (health, illness, well-being) or to their emotions, and only rarely to their thoughts.  While this may not be a bad way to live, it is certainly a superficial and shallow way.
 
This way of living is also problematic on several counts.  It’s problematic because most everyone who lives on the surface of consciousness are regularly mystified by their emotions, their psycho-somatic illnesses (headaches, backaches, ulcers, fatigue, etc.), their inabilities (handling compulsions, additions, procrastination, etc.).  to then further deepen the mystery, many say, “I can’t believe that my mind and thinking has anything to do with these problems. Just give me a pill.”
 
Yet we in Neuro-Semantics know many of the secrets of this mystery—“As you think, so you are.”  Your mental model of the world (your maps) govern your experience in the territory.  How you think in your mind creates the reality you experience.  Therefore when we coach, consult, train, do therapy, or lead, we take people on a deep dive into their Meta Place (mind).  We do this because each person’s Meta Place is control-center of their life.  For us then, the key is learning how to do deep dive thinking with our clients as we invite them into their Meta Place.
 
Now that The Meta Place (2023) book has been produced as well as the first The Deep Dive (2024), the next step is learning Deep Dive Thinking Using the Meta Place— the subject of the next ISNS Wisdom, April 13, 2024.
