Robert Dilts has announced that Steve Andreas has passed away. He died last Friday night in Boulder Colorado. Robert wrote the following:
“I was in Guadalajara with Juan Francisco Ramírez Martínez for the 30th anniversary of his institute CMPNL, along with Suzi Smith and Richard Bolstad. The four of us gave a tribute to Steve this past Saturday morning, before we knew of his passing. It made for a very bittersweet day.
I know that Steve and I openly shared our disagreements on this forum, but we could be so open because we were such good friends. Steve was the first person to hire me and Terry McClendon outside of California to teach an NLP workshop back in 1978.
My feelings for Steve have always been love, appreciation, respect and gratitude. He positively touched the lives of many people in this world, including mine.
Heart felt condolences and love to Connirae, Mark and the rest of the Andreas family. Our field has lost a champion and a giant.
Robert
After Robert sent that to the NLP Leadership Summit --- I wrote the following:
When I think of Steve Andreas, I think about the quality of the leadership that he brought to this field--- a leadership that is beyond measure --- not only for the 4 books that he and Connaire wrote that put NLP on the map… but all of the thousands of people that he brought from the field of NLP when he changed his mind and left Gestalt for NLP … as well as the personal integrity and scholarship that he demonstrated for 40 years!
In the past few years, I came to increasingly appreciate Steve for his willingness to have a respectful debate on the areas wherein we disagreed. In that he was living the NLP premise that our mental maps are just that--- maps, and not the territory.
Robert expressed it best--- “Our field has lost a Champion and a Giant!”
Then Brian Van der Horst sent out the following:
“The film of the Steve Andreas Roast and Acknowledgement Event hosted by Robert Dilts, Michael Hall, Joseph O’Connor and I held in London in May has been moved to a new location. Included are video tributes from a selection of old timers like Steve Lankton, Tim halbom, and R. Bandler.

Only those people who have this link can see this film.
We were lucky enough to show him how much we loved him while he could still talk back.
I think we put together a pretty good career summary and a fitting tribute. Steve himself told me:
“Thanks a bunch, Brian... My takeaway is a much greater réalisation of how many lives I’ve touched over the years; a nice warm feeling.”
