[Neurons] Mental skills training for Sports Coaches in South Africa

Mike Cooper and I have been focused on developing elite athlete performance
for some time, we have used Neuro-Semantics (and more specifically
Meta-Coaching) to underpin the work we do and have developed (and adapted) a
few models in this field.  The challenge has always been that Sports
Psychology has not made the impact on sport that it should have. In South
Africa (and many places around the world) you won't find a professional team
(or even semi-professional team) without a physiotherapist, however you will
struggle to find one with a full time sports psychologist or mental coach.
Now with the advanced models of Meta-Coaching will we be able to combine
them with the strengths of sports psychology and create a paradigm shift
that changes the way people think about sport, and ultimately high
performance?

 

My belief is yes, I just am not sure of the formula of how to do that yet.
Part of my vision is to make personal development as synonymous to health as
going to the local gym is, and I believe (especially in South Africa) by
working with our elite athletes, when they are seen to be performing at a
higher level, and then talk about it, that may contribute to the tipping
point of having Meta-Coaches phones ringing both here and abroad.

 

Our most current experiment in creating a paradigm shift is for Mike and I
to hold our very first two day training on Mental skills for Sports Coaches.
We have tried to answer the question, "If you had two days to teach
everything that is important about the mental side of sport to sports
coaches, of any age group and any sport - what would you teach?"  In true NS
style we have leaped into this and have 5 trainings in November in South
Africa, one in each major city.

 

If you are a coach or trainer that is interested in the models and ideas of
high performance you are most welcome, 
If you know any sports coaches who may be interested in this, I would
appreciate you forward on this mail.  
If you are interested in hosting this training in your country, please let
me know and we can explore that possibility.  

 

Dates for the roadshow:

 

Durban 11th -12th November - Cape Town 15th -16th November - Bloemfontein
18th -19th November  - Sandton 23rd -24th November - Pretoria 25th - 26th
November

Costs:  a very low training rate and the price includes a copy of Tim and
Michael's book "In the Zone with South Africa's Sports heroes".
