Your Professional Development
We speak about our field of coaching moving towards a profession. We
lament at the low barriers to entry and the fact that anybody can call
themselves a coach today. But what are we doing about it as a community?
What are you personally doing to set yourself and your coaching practice
as the standard to help lead the field?
Of course one of the ways we do this is through our on going development
and keeping abreast of advancements in the field.
With this in mind, what experiential skills based training or development
have you enjoyed this year? Have you followed through on your personal
commitment to your ongoing professional development? Are you feeling stale
in your business and wondering how to take your business to the next
level?
Emotional Intelligence - Developmental Coaching
If emotional intelligence is critical to a coach and client alike, apart
form Goleman's foundational work, how are you facilitating greater
awareness in yourself and your clients? What model's are you using? And
what results are you getting?
As Daniel Goleman coined it, Emotional Intelligence is your awareness of
your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and those thoughts and feelings in
the back of your mind, those that are outside your day to day
consciousness. Your ability to have this awareness, is called
self-reflexive consciousness, and is one of the keys that distinguish you
and I as human. And like any other skill or ability, self-reflexive
consciousness can be developed and cultivated.
Nobody knows this more than those who provide developmental coaching, as
at the heart of a developmental conversation are questions about beliefs,
values, understandings, self identity etc. effectively facilitating our
clients, to step back from their thinking and feeling and to discover what
they think and feel about their thinking and feeling…
Would you like to:
- learn more about self reflexive consciousness?
- gain more precision and efficiency in your coaching?
- increase your emotional intelligence?
- gain 70 new coaching questions for great EI and awareness?
Axes of ChangeTM - Change Mastery
While coaching is about success and results, it is also about change. And
as we know, not all change is the same. In Gregory Bateson's levels of
learning and change, we know there are 4 different levels of change
including; incremental and discontinuous change to skills and behaviour
(performance coaching), evolutionary change to beliefs, values, identity
(developmental change) and revolutionary change to purpose and direction
(transformational coaching).
Different levels of change call for different styles of coaching,
questioning skills and also for different change models. With this in
mind, what change models are you using? Are they change models for self
actualising individuals and teams or are they models borrowed from
therapeutic change? Do you even have a model you are using?
Would you like to:
- learn more about levels of change?
- master an advanced model of change?
- learn a model for developmental and transformational change?
- recognise the 4 stages of change in functioning people?
- learn the 9 roles a change agent plays in a coaching dance?
- Develop the skills, states and competencies for each role?
Self Actualisation QuadrantsTM - Unleashing Potential
Coaching is unleashing talents and actualising our potential. Abraham
Maslow called this self actualisation and identified many characteristics
of self actualisers. Are you one of them? Are you able to identify those
qualities in your clients? What are the differences between those who do
self actualise and those that miss the mark? As a coach how can you
diagnose the self actualisation gap with a client and facilitate them
closing their gap to hit the Flow Zone?
Would you like to:
- discover characteristics of self actualisers?
- diagnose the self actualisation gap in your self and clients?
- unleash untapped potential in yourself and others?
NS Benchmarking ModelTM - Facilitating Success
How effectively are you measuring your clients change? How much awareness
do your clients have of the changes they have made? Are they able to
articulate specifically what they have achieved, what they have not, and
what they can now do that they could not before coaching with you?
In any professional field, there are standards and benchmarks for
success. What are those that you use for your business? What are those
that your clients use for their success in working with you? And what are
the benchmarks of success in the field of coaching today?
Would you like to:
- create a referral based business from "raving" clients who love your
business
- discover 26 competencies of a professional coach
- measure your skill development as a professional coach
- create benchmarks for your clients to measure their incremental
development and success
- learn how to take any concept and turn it into a measurable behaviour
Effective Feedback - Accelerating Performance
How effective is your feedback? Do shy away from giving it? Is it loaded
with your judgments, evaluations and your projections? How do you know if
it is not? How effectively can your clients integrate your feedback and
implement the changes into their lives? Whose criteria are you giving your
feedback to?
Feedback is the breakfast of champions. Top athletes rely on it and our
clients are no different. Your expertise at giving feedback can be the
difference between being an average coach and an outstanding coach.
Advanced feedback skills can dramatically enhance your service offering no
matter your client base from CEO's and senior management all the way
through to actors, builders and children.
Would you like to:
- develop razor sharp observations and tracking skills
- use effective and efficient feedback to shape performance
- get feedback on your feedback and take it all to an advanced level
- enhance your service offering and increase your Coaching fee
