Hi,
I got a problem installing the Visitor Stats plugin version 1.3 from http://www.pigstye.net/gplugs/staticpages/index.php/20030303075728961 on my geeklog 1.3.9 @ http://paducktions.net/. I follow the readme exactly as it says but the installation failes with the following message:
Install/Uninstall Stats Plugin

The Stats Plugin is Not Installed
Below I have included the output from error.log..

Your error log clearly tells you what the problem is. You already have the
table gl_ignore_page from some other install. Find out why and delete it if
possible or use a different prefix for the tables.

Hi,
I've just installed the new Forum Version 2.3 .... Blaine, GREAT work
REALLY beautiful !!!!!!!!!
However ......... why can't we have a story editor like this for
standard Geeklog.
Sounds CRAZY, we have to play with stupid HTML when creating stories
and in Forum we have a GREAT editor with smileys and all..
Unbelievable PLEASE.. Or am I missing something ?????
TIA,

Well, let me be the first to chime in by saying I an not a fan of client
side javascript. However, I see your point and I'd recommend if we did
something like that that we give a non-js option for people like me and
I'd even encourage that same behavior in the forums.
In fact, I'd suggestion a user preference to track if a user likes js
and if so use those features throughout the app. Just thinking out loud.

How would I customize the links and text in the centerblock? Thanks in

I have recently upgraded to 1.3.9, and thought successfully. This evening I
was trying to create a new story and I get this error:
Specified upload directory, images/articles is not a valid directory
File Upload Errors:
I am running multiple instances of geeklog if that makes any difference.
Where do I need to create the images/articles directory?

Anonymous users keep posting lists of links to porn sites on my geeklog installation. Does anyone know how to restrict comments/etc to registered users only? I'd like Anonymous users to be able to read the stories, but only registered users could comment on them.
Thanks
Joshua

I had the same problem recently. This setting is in config.php, change
$_CONF['commentsloginrequired'] = 1;

Yes, there are settings in config.php which control this. It's quite
clear, IMHO.

You need to be sure that /path/to/geeklog/public_html/images/articles
exists and that the webserver user can write to that directory.

Thanks for the suggestion. I made sure that directory was there, and with
correct permissions. I even ran the check.php and everything passed. But I
am still getting the error:
Specified upload directory, images/articles is not a valid directory
File Upload Errors:
Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Hrm, I think you have an invalid value for one of your paths (maybe
$_CONF['path_images']). You should double check that and other related
paths because your error should give a full path value not just the
absolute value.

Sorry, that should have read "relative value" at the end of my last post.

Thanks for your help. It was the $_CONF['path_images']. I will need to
review my installation notes to see why I changed the default value. I run
multiple instances of geeklog and probably changed it so each site would
write to their own /images directory and not the one under geeklog.

Can someone please tell me how to customize the copyright statement that is
put at the bottom of the page? I want to add a statement that content is
licensed under a Creative Commons license, add the suitable logo.
I am a complete newbie when it comes to php (but not averse to learning),
so I really need some detailed instructions. RTFM won't help me in the
short term and I would really like to make the change in less time than it
will take me to RTFM.

Just remove {copyright_notice} from
/path/to/geeklog/public_html/layout//footer.thtml and insert
the HTML you want.

checkout the footer template file:
footer.thtml
located in: /path/to/geeklog/public_html/layout/themename/
Add in your custom HTML (no PHP knowledge needed). I've added my own CC
license there as well - mind you i opted to not show the graphic... you
can see what i've done here: http://axonz.com/ at the bottom of
the page.

This question is about the User Functions --> Preferences settings.
I was playing around with the "Excluded Items for " this evening
to get familiar with it so I would know how to responde to user inquiries.
So I selected some Topics to exclude as well as some Authors. When I was
finished testing, I was able to remove the exclusions from the Topics but I
cannot remove all exclusions from the Authors. I cannot unselect all
authors, so therefore I have to leave one author selected. It would be nice
to be able to unselect all authors so one does not have any exclusions.
Does anyone know how to unselect all authors from the exclusion list?
Thanks,

Message-ID: <1082356660.408373b419478@webmail.lecielbleu.net>
Sorry for the cross posting. I thought both lists would be interested.
One of my users is using the french_canada.php language file. That user was
unable to preview (and hence submit) comments to my stories.
The code in comment.php sets the preview mode button value using the language
specific string $LANG03[14]. Unfortunately, the value used in the language file
uses HTML markup, and the value returned does not.
14 => 'Aperçu',
Is there a general way to fix this, or must all the language translations be
aware how their strings are used? For now I copied the french_france.php
version of this value to the french_canada.php file (from 1.3.9).

This has been discussed before, but didn't make it into 1.3.9. All the
strings in the language file should use the native special characters
(and set the character set properly) instead of using HTML entities.
If you can provide a fixed version of the language file in question,
please send it to me or upload it on geeklog.net (as a .zip or .tar.gz
file, please!) and I'll make sure it's included in the next release.
bye, Dirk

Please check the permissions on the userphotos and articles directories
in public_html/images. They should be 775, i.e. the webserver must have
write access on those directories. However if your webserver runs as
nobody, then the permissions must be 777.
I hope this helps.

I am getting an error with the File Management Plugin and was wondering if
anyone knew a solution.
I have the plugin working so I can post files. When I try to post a large
file (4-6mb), I get errors. The error I get on the screen relates to a file
permission error. But in the apache error log, I get:
URI too long (longer than 8190)
Is there a size limitation for uploading files through the File Management
Plugin? If so, how can I set the size limitation?
Thanks,
-Todd

If you want to upload extremely large files (>100MB) then you could just upload an empty file, upload with ftp or wget the correct file on the server, and then change the filename.
