Hi there,

I just downloaded and installed GL the other day, and noticed the lack 
of a Norwegian language file.
I have started on the translation, but just wanted to check with you 
guys if this task already has been started by someone else?

If not, I'll just continue with my 'norwegian.php' file and submit it to 
the project when I finish it. Any comments/hints?

Uhm, OK. The language is set in .../languages/[language].php only, right?
Do you mean to say that we need to edit any other files too, or do you 
just refer to the different sections in that file when you say that you 
"have finished a couple of pages"?

I just see this  post in the mailing list webpage, and as nobody answer to it in the last two weeks, I feel like doing it.

Ramiro T?llez Sanz  is right.  I'm native spanish lenguage, and i have to say there are some mistakes in the spanish.php file.

I'm running geeklog-1.3.7sr1 , i installed yesterday.  I'm going to fix all these mistakes in the spanish.php file and send it back to ??? Who am i suppose to send it??

I don't agree with Ramiro in some situations, because he speak "Real Academy Spain" and i speak "Castellano" (wich is a Spanish dialect). 
  per example "enviar a un amigo" (send to a friend) is fine the way it is, you don't need to change it to "enviar a alguien".   (Ramiro's suggestion in this case is not wrong but unnecessary for "Castellano dialect)

Also, i found more mistakes that ramiro didn't mention, I will fix all the ones he's mention and all the ones he skip too.

bye the way, Spanish is number 3 speaking lenguage in the world, so as you can imagine there are plenty of diferent dialect. 
As an example of dialect, the word "catch " in english is the same as "cojer" in Spain, but in my country (Argentina) the word "cojer" means "having sex".   So, even speaking the same lenguage, the use of words are sometimes very different in different countries.

Argentina (south America) and many other south American countries speak a dialect called "Castellano", wich is very very very simillar to "Real academy spanish" (the one that is talked in spain), but different at the same time.  Spain people use synonyms that we don't use. 

That's why i sometimes disagree with Ramiro. Some synonyms that "Spain" people is used to listen and read every days, don't sound good for "Castellanos" people.   In fact "Castilla" is a state in Spain where most of South American countries inherit their dialect.

So instead of modifying spanish.php I'm thinking of creating a new one called  Castellano.php   that will match to a bunch of countries and regions that speak this dialect. 

What do you think??

I just found out there's a folder called incomplete with a spanish_argentina.php file. 

What do you know about this file? Wich is the existence of the incomplete lenguage folder?  people work a little bit, i mean don't finish, and post unfinished files?  Well, that's better than nothing.

I will open both and make comparison, and i will finish it.

Send it to me, I'll check it into CVS. Please send a .zip or .gz archive
of the file. Otherwise, national special characters could be lost.

No, those are files that are outdated. From time to time, we have to add
new texts to Geeklog and when the original translators don't update the
files then you can't use them with Geeklog any more (until someone
translates the missing pieces).

This list has been set up to keep people updated about new texts in
Geeklog so that you can update your translations prior to the release of
new versions of Geeklog.

Thanks, im almost done, i was working for 9 hours fixing the Spanish.php and
Spanish_Argentinian.php  and doing a mistake report.

i have some questions.

What is CVS?  can you describe it letter by letter? thanks
What is RDF? again, describe it letter by letter.   ( I found this in  #
block.php    14=> )

there is another abbreviation that im missing, i can't remember. .  If you
can think in another one that might help me, i will really apreciate it.

REPORT:



 I fix Spanish.php and Spanish_Argentina.php files.



How to read this report:

 If I don't comment which language file I fix, that means I fix both at the
same time with the same content (Spanish.php and Spanish_Argentina.php),
Otherwise I will put a comment about the file that was fix in the particular
line.



I did the fixing comparing line by line from English.php, Spanish.php and
Spanish_Argentina.php





Here we go:

37 => it was missed, I add  "No hay noticias del usuario". To
Spanish_Argentina.php.

38 => is missing in every language, even in English.php. what is this?.

40 is missing in every language, even in English.php. what is this?.

41 => it was missed. I add "Usuarios Invitados".

80 =>  fixed extra data (80). To Spanish_Argentina.php.

81 =>  fixed extra data (81) To Spanish_Argentina.php.

106 and 107 didn't exist.  I copy them from the Spanish.php.

7 => I change Events by Eventos.

61 => i change it as Ramiro suggestion. I change "?Primero los m?s viejos o
los m?s nuevos?" by "?Primero los m?s antiguos o los m?s recientes?"

63 => misspelling. it said  "llenado" instead of "llegando".

65 => i change "Intente reingresar con su usario" by "Intente reconectarse
otra vez".

66 => article and accent missing, "intente volver conectarse aqui" by

"Intente volver a conectarse aqu?". also i add "usted" in between "?Es

un..."

75 => change mail by email .

from 77 to 86 were missing in the Spanish_Argentina.php version, add done.
