When the use is not documented anywhere or it is not clear, it is better removed.
The only gl-place where categories come into speak, is the links plugin.

I may have copied that from some other CMS, possibly WordPress. But if it?s not a widely recognised attribute, it should be safe to remove it.

rel-tag is in fact a known microFormat.

Funny enough, I see in the web service that a topic turns into categories and vice versa.
Something here is clearly obsolete. But what exactly?

It happens whenever a empty variable is parsed. In that case the value true is assigned.

The bug should be resolved already.

Yes the throwing of the 1 should be fixed but the underlying issue of why
some blocks or other template files (like the featured story on Geeklog.net
kept being replaced by a 1) produced a 1 instead of the actually template is
not. In this instance instead of a 1 it would through not return anything.

You are using the Beta 1 released on Geeklog.net Ben?

I could not reproduce this error at all on my setup and in the code I cannot
see what is causing it.

Ben maybe you could poke around in the code on your system since you can
reproduce it to see what is going on.

You may be able to fix the problem (temporarily) by clearing the cache but
it may just happen again at a later date when the cache file gets recreated.
You could turn off template caching in the config but that may not fix it
completely.

If you have time I would really appreciate you looking into it to see if you
could find a fix.

The What's New Block and the Topics Block do not rely on
$_CONF['cache_templates'].

$_CONF['cache_templates'] is specifically to enable caching of the templates
of the theme.

The What's New Block and Topics block always uses the cache file if the
files exist.  It is much quicker to do this (especially on large sites) than
to calculate how many articles are in each topic for every page load (or
what is a new item). If the cache files  are not then they are generated and
displayed. 

For example the cache files for the topic block get deleted whenever a new
topic is added or a story gets added or deleted from the system.

For other blocks (and articles) you can enable caching by changing the Cache
Time Attribute. These are also not affected by the config value
$_CONF['cache_templates']..

Sorry I thought it was a bug because when I disabled cache templates I
was thinking the display of those 2 blocks would not come from a cache
version.

Yes.

I narrowed it down to the subject of the Japanese forum email. Here is it
translated to English " Geeklog - Forum Post Notification". When I blank out
the subject the error doesn't happen and the email goes through

If a person who has set their language as Japanese replies to a Forum post
the error will happen since the forum attempts to notify them.

I don't know if this is just a Geeklog.net issue or not since none of the
Geeklog.jp people have mentioned it and they use the forum as well.

As I recall the Forum does use our COM_Mail function and I was wondering if
it was a pear library issue as there have been a few reports on the net
similar to this (foreign language words causing errors).

I haven't had time to look into this any further than that. Does anyone have
any ideas?

Front-end framework Bootstrap and UIkit and many are very important
for web design.

Modern curve use "gl-tooltip" class.
It is nice!

But Geeklog Configuration use ".tooltip" class.
It is bad because Bootstrap use ".tooltip" class and Javascript functions.

Please change ".gl-tooltip".

".in" class is same problem.
Please use ".gl-in" class.

UIkit use "uk-", so there are no problem.

Add a feature request for it Ivy and I will try to get it in.

Any new css classes that is added to Geeklog in the future we should add gl- to the name to ensure no conflicts.
