Subject: January 12 Update - Free Rapid Tests and Events in District

Please use email or phone to contact my office

Dear Friends,

Please see several important upcoming events hosted by my office,
including *free
rapid test and KN-95 mask giveaways*, and an important discussion for
International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27th.

Beyond events hosted by my office, I’d like to draw your attention to some
important community updates. Please see below for information on bringing
your old Christmas tree to Mulchfest, where to make donations to the
victims of the Bronx apartment fire, and what to know ahead of the eviction
moratorium deadline.

As always, please contact me and my staff with any questions at
odonnelld at nyassembly.gov or 212-855-3960.

Truly Yours,
Danny

*Mask and Rapid Test Giveaway:*

With help from Governor Hochul, my office will be distributing *free KN95
masks and at-home rapid tests (2 tests per person) this Thursday and
Friday, 1/13 and 1/14*. Supplies will be handed out from 1pm - 5pm. Those
at high risk or with limited mobility can email our office at
summac at nyassembly.gov to reserve their tests and masks. See the below flier
for more details.

*Why Memory Matters: A Panel on International Holocaust Remembrance Day*
In honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27th, I will
host a discussion with a range of speakers on Why Memory Matters and the
importance of keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive. Our panel will
discuss how we can both carry forward individual stories, as well as
understand the scale and enormity of the Holocaust. As we face resurgent
anti-semitism and hate in our world today, this discussion is even more
necessary. I hope you can all join - the discussion starts at 7pm. Please

.

*Mulchfest*
As we near the end of the holiday season, it’s time for many of us to
remove our Christmas trees. I encourage everyone to stop by Mulchfest,
sponsored by the Riverside Park Conservancy and other community partners,
where you can drop-off your tree and watch as it is chipped and turned into
nourishing mulch. The event will run from 10am - 2pm at Riverside Park,
West 83rd Street.

*The five-alarm fire on East 181 Street in the Bronx:*

The fire at Twin Parks North West in the Bronx this Sunday was the
deadliest in decades. All 17 victims – eight of whom were children – died
of smoke inhalation. The families of the victims and tenants of the
building face a difficult path forward.

I urge anyone who is able to consider making a donation to these
organizations.

those who were affected by the fire. Please share widely.

*The Emergency Rental Assistance Program:*

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program reopened last night. While there is
currently no federal funding available to provide assistance in most areas
of the State, a submitted application will provide temporary protection
from eviction once the moratorium elapses on January 15th.
