Here's the October issue of the Broadway Democrats newsletter. Inside
you'll find:

   - a report from our Male District Leader, *Curtis Arluck*;
   - notes from our Club President, *Joe Nunley*;
   - an article by Steering Committee member *Meika Mustrangi* on the NYC
   Care Campaign to support domestic workers;
   - a report from our State Committeeman, *Daniel Marks Cohen*;
   - a piece from Steering Committee and Go Blue members *Mary Peppito
*and *David
   Isaacson* urging a "yes" vote this November for ballot proposal 1 (more
   on that below); and
   - a piece by *yours truly* on the Supreme Court's abuse of its "shadow
   docket."

Importantly, the newsletter also has information about two upcoming club
meetings:

   - *Thursday Oct. 14, 7:30 pm - A Virtual Town Hall for Morningside
   Heights and Manhattan Valley.* NYPD and Sanitation, along with our local
   electeds and some of our *incoming *officials, will make presentations
   and take your questions. The Town Hall will be preceded (at 7:30) by club
   business, including *the election of one new Steering Committee member*.
   Nominations will be taken from the (virtual) floor.
   - *Wednesday Oct. 20, 7:30 pm - Special Club Meeting to discuss (and
   possibly endorse positions on) the five proposed NYS constitutional
   amendments that will be on the ballot this November.* The amendments
   would affect apportionment and redistricting; enact a state constitutional
   right to clean air and water; establish same-day voter registration for
   state elections; eliminate the requirement that voters provide an
   explanation for why they cannot vote in-person; and expand the jurisdiction
   of the New York Civil Court. Come make your voice heard!
