Forwarded as part of our continuing effort to keep our members informed
about the positions and initiatives of our elected officials.
Please use email or phone to contact my office
*Dear Neighbor,*

I hope you are staying safe and doing well. As we come to the end of
another week, I encourage you to protect yourself and be responsible by
wearing a face covering every time you leave your home, and by staying 6
feet or further away from others whenever possible. Although we are seeing
fewer new daily cases compared to several weeks ago, it is still up to all
of us to maintain strict social distancing to prevent another spike in
infections. Thank you to each and every one of you for your efforts to
prevent spreading the virus - it isn't easy for any of us, but all of us
doing our part truly makes a difference.

As individuals and authorities continue to adapt to new realities, keeping
track of the many changes in policies, programs, and guidelines is
difficult. Please see below for up to date information that may be helpful
to you. This email includes information on:

   - Free Mask Distribution
   - Unemployment Issues
   - Absentee Ballots for the June 23 Primary
   - Housing Updates - Eviction Moratorium/ Rent Guidelines Board
   - MTA Late Night Service Plan
   - And Many Additional Resources

As a reminder, my office is open, with all staff working from home.
Please leave a voicemail at 212-866-3970 or email me at
odonnelld at nyassembly.gov and we will respond as quickly as possible,
prioritizing time sensitive issues.

*Housing News*

*Eviction Moratorium Extended:* Yesterday, the state's moratorium on
residential or commercial evictions was extended for an additional 60 days
until August 20th. In addition, the state is banning late payments or fees
for missed rent payments during the eviction moratorium, and allowing
renters facing financial hardship to use their security deposit as payment
and repay their security deposit over time.

*Preliminary Rent Freeze for Rent Stabilized Tenants:* Last night, the Rent
Guidelines Board took a preliminary vote to freeze rents for Rent
Stabilized apartments, recommending:

   - For 1-year leases: 0% increase
   - For 2-year leases: 0% increase for 1st year and 1% increase for 2nd
   year

These recommendations will be finalized in the RGB's vote on June 17, and
apply to leases starting on or after October 1, 2020.

If you are a rent stabilized tenant with questions, please contact my
office and our dedicated Housing Specialist will be in touch to support you.
