|  Dear Neighbor, As the COVID-19 crisis moves toward the peak number of cases in New York City, we remind you how important it is to practice social distancing. That makes shopping hard to do safely.  In ordinary times, you would turn to BAiP's Neighbor-to-Neighbor volunteers for help but their work is on pause to protect them and the rest of us.  In its place, you might consider this grassroots effort run by college students: Invisible Hands Deliver.  Already, several BAiP members have used it and praised the operation. If you are elderly, immunocompromised or otherwise at risk, you may submit a delivery request via the organization's website for items to be purchased in the neighborhood.  There is no service fee.  The volunteers will get what you request and bring it to your door following principles of social distancing.  Please read the clear details about ordering, delivery and payment for the items on their website here. Nothing is foolproof when it comes to transacting this way so please be sensible about your request.  The founders of the organization have assured us of their vigilance in volunteer vetting and we share this resource knowing how valuable it can be to many of us.   Also, if you have healthy college-age grandchildren or young adult children who might like to get involved with this organization, please share this message with them and ask them to visit the volunteer page to learn more.
