Broadway Dems will be joining with Assemblymember Danny O’Donnell’s office
to make calls to our neighbors about the Census!
*Day:* Monday, July 27
*Time: *6 to 8 pm
Save the date! And for more information, read below under Volunteer
Opportunity.

Please also see important information below about rent relief, unemployment
support and Covid-19 testing and resources:

*Dear Neighbor,*

As New York City moves into the heart of summer, we are still contending
with the far reaching impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. As always, I
encourage you to stay informed and refer to the City and State authorities
to stay up to date on what activities and businesses are permitted, and
best practices on how to stay safe. With cases rising in States around the
country, it is critical that we remain committed to doing everything we can
to prevent a resurgence of the pandemic here in New York. For the health
and safety of our community, please continue to wear a mask, social
distance whenever possible, and follow the direction health authorities.

Below, please find updates on:

   - New York State Rental Relief
   - Volunteer Opportunities
   - Unemployment Updates
   - Local Coronavirus Testing Sites
   - Additional Coronavirus Resources

My office is open, with all staff continuing to work from home.
Please leave a voicemail at 212-866-3970 or email me at
odonnelld at nyassembly.gov and we will respond as quickly as possible,
prioritizing time sensitive issues.

*Truly Yours, Danny*

engaged and committed to addressing racism and **discrimination.*

*COVID Rent Relief Program Applications Are Live*

New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) has opened applications
for an emergency rental assistance program to help keep low-income families
in their homes. The program, which is designed to reach those individuals
and families with the greatest need, will provide direct aid for tenants
who lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The application period will be *open for two weeks (July 16 - July 30)*.
Residents can apply any time during the two-week period. Online
applications are available here: https://hcr.ny.gov/RRP
<https://nyc.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=bbf607c4f1b7b549d2fbf4e75&id=e63c5d8db5&e=5be0caccba>
.

To qualify for the program, applicants must meet all of the eligibility
requirements:

   - Before March 1, 2020 and at the time of application, household income
(including unemployment benefits) must be below 80 percent of the Area
Median Income, adjusted for household size. Applicants can find the Area
Median Income for their county, based on household size, on HCR's website
   here

   .
   - Before March 1, 2020 and at the time of application, the household
must have been "rent burdened," which is defined as paying more than 30
percent of gross monthly income towards rent.
   - Applicants must have lost income during any period between April 1,

*Volunteer Opportunity: Census Phonebank *

Join my office and community partners, Broadway Dems, in reaching out to
our neighbors to encourage everyone to fill out the US Census. The Census
happens every 10 years, and it is a pillar of our democracy, counting
everyone living in the United States (regardless of citizenship). It
affects our representation in Congress, funding for our district's beloved
programs and services, and more. So help your neighbors and our community
by ensuring a full count of local residents.

We will be calling our neighbors on *Monday July 27, from 6-8pm*. Sign up
to help here: mobilize.us/nyccensus/event/289595/

*Ongoing Unemployment Support*

My office continues to help hundreds of individuals resolve issues with
their Unemployment Insurance/Pandemic Unemployment Assistance cases. Most
people we have helped have been approved and are receiving payments. We are
still working with constituents who continue to have issues with their
cases, including missed backpay, receiving an incorrect benefit
determination, and delayed payments. If you currently have issues with your
Unemployment Insurance/Pandemic Unemployment Assistance application, please
reach out to my office at 212.866.3970 or email me at
odonnelld at nyassembly.gov.

whether or not you have symptoms or are at increased risk. If you would
