+++++ SAVE NEW YORK CITY'S "THE PUTNAM TRAIL" +++++
Save the Putnam Tail in The Bronx, NYC! This multi-
purpose, useful and scenic trail is natural, in other
words, a real dirt trail. When you see the pictures
of the trail at the link enclosed, the natural beauty
particularly surviving as 'natural' over the decades
in New York City, is wondrous! It is also historic!
The trail is used year-round by all types of people,
including children, seniors, and the disabled. Yet,
somebodies came up with the dumb, destructive idea of
paving the trail with... cement! How stupid is that?

++++++++ SVA'S DIRECTOR WILLIAMSON PROFILED in NEW YORK TIMES ++++++++ To
coincide with GLBT Pride Month and the 46th anniversary of historic 1969
Stonewall Rebellion, the 46th anniversary of the 1969 "Stonewall Car" and
the 46th anniversary of the SVA STONEWALL Rebellion Veterans' Association
("S.V.A"), The New York Times ("NYX") presented their NYC "Profile" series
featuring Williamson Henderson as an authentic "N.Y. Character Study". The
article with photo of WLH standing in front of the 1969 Cadillac was in
Sunday's June 7th edition of The N.Y. Times. ---
The story includes Williamson born in Brooklyn, raised in Long Island and
living most of his life in Manhattan, reflections of the original Stonewall
Club, the milestone year "1969", icon Judy Garland's funeral in Manhattan
that year, the N.Y.C. Stonewall Rebellion, mentioned that he has a partner
(unnamed for search engines), who is AnDre for twelve years, interesting
description of their top 40th floor apartment with a long red leather sofa
(although they have wall-2-wall broadloom not shag rugs), portraits of
WLH's mother and Diana Ross, a meeting of the S.V.A. on a Saturday, which
the reporter Corey Kilgallon smartly and thoughtfully attended for two
hours, the forthcoming movie "STONEWALL" with the chief producer Michael
Fossat describing the movie, the land mark status of The Stonewall Inn,
planning for the "SVA's Conference and Stonewall Veterans Reunion" in June,
the contemptuous and envious haters in the GLBT community, forthcoming U.S.
Supreme Court decision on American Marriage Equality, and, of course, the
famous and classic Cadillac car owned by the SVA with the "STONEWAL"
plates. (Only has one "L" as in N.Y.S., a 8-character limit.) Within the
NYX article, there is an active link to the STONEWALL Veterans Association
website! ---
The article by investigative news and feature reporter Corey Kilgallon is
very interesting, well-written, unique and informative. He did the
interviews in three segments including at WLH's home (as you'll read), at
an S.V.A. meeting (you will read about that, too) and on location on the
Upper East Side of Manhattan with the outstanding convertible! --- Read the
NYX story on WLH and the S.V.A. and the "Stonewall Car" here:

++++++++ "SONGS of THE STONEWALL": DIANA ROSS & THE SUPREMES +++++++++ The
girl groups were the most popular singing artists at the Stonewall Club in
Greenwich Village, N.Y.C. The Stonewall jukebox was plentiful with girl
groups namely The Shangri-Las, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, The Chiffons,
The Marvelettes, The Honey Cone, The Velvelettes, Patti LaBelle & The
Bluebelles, The Exciters, Ronnie Spector & The Ronettes, The Crystals, The

the most records, usually five singles yearly, and the most hits were
undeniably Diana Ross & The Supremes. They had many "B" side hits such as
"There's No Stopping Us Now", "Going Down For The Third Time" and "You

++++++ STONEWALL VETERANS MONUMENT PROPOSAL ++++++

the NY Stonewall Rebellion, the originators of the
planned "Stonewall Veterans Monument", the S.V.A.,
are resubmitting the major plan for this monument.
Besides marching in most of our Gay Pride parades,
GLBT groups and public officials, et al. ought to
support this worthwhile and overdue NYC project.
S.V.A. was first to propose a Stonewall Monument!
It will be discussed at every monthly SVA meeting.

+++++ THANKS, PRESIDENT BARACK for SPELLING OUT "G.L.B.T." +++++
Thank you President Barack Obama for prominently mentioning GLBT
people in your 'State of the Union Address'. That was a first!
Thanks for saying out: Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender.
That was educational to the public and inclusive! And, another
first! The President stated: “As Americans, we respect human
dignity. That’s why we defend free speech + condemn persecution
of women.... or Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, or Transgender people"!
Some GLBT organizations do not have common courtesy or sense to
always define an acronym first time in a letter. Some presume
that everyone knows the definition of 'GLBT'? Many GLBTs cannot
correctly explain what the 'GLBT' means! Again, thanks to the
POTUS (President of the United States). We defined the acronym!

+++++ SURPRISE SVA GUEST: "STONEWALL" MOVIE CO-STAR +++++
Fresh from the "STONEWALL" movie press conference, the red
carpet event, the cast introductions on stage, the movie
premiere and the after-party, all in Hollywood and West
Hollywood, when the door to the S.V.A. meeting room opened
-- just three days after Williamson & AnDre Christie saw
him on the West Coast -- it was a surprise visit from one
of the key actors in the "STONEWALL" movie: Otoja Abbitt!
It was exciting to have 3 of the original NYPD cops at the
meeting, particularly, in the week of the "STONEWALL" film
opening, yet this was surprise topping on the S.V.A. cake!
Otoja, tall (6' 4"), dark and handsome, besides talented,
met and exchanged 411 with the S/W cops, gave inside 411
on making of the "STONEWALL" movie and praised the S.V.A.!
He is now appearing in an off-Broadway play "Fulfillment".

++++++++++++ REMEMBERING SVA'S STORME DeLARVERIE ++++++++++++
After Ellen Online Magazine tributes Storme, mentions S.V.A.:
It's a nice comprehensive story on Storme but they constantly
use the perjorative term that Storme D so despised: "riots"!
As Storme declared so many times: "I wasn't no f'ing rioter!"

Stonewall Veteran, Drag King Icon Storme DeLarveie Dies in NYC!
"Storme DeLarverie, a longtime member of the STONEWALL Veterans
Association...." starts the Storme article. It tells of Storme
in the transgender Jewel Box Revue performing on stage with 25
cross-dressers + 1 drag king Storme! "Storme DeLarverie was a
vital member of STONEWALL Veterans' Association, rising through
the ranks to eventually become the group’s vice-president. The
Imperial Kings & Queens of Greater New York, a sister group to
SVA, also recognized DeLaverie’s work in the early drag scene".
The Advocate's description was well-written by Lynn de la Cruz.

Cory Silverberg's article best Nails Storme and links to S.V.A.!
This tribute story on Storme D. most appropriately opens with a
quote from Storme that Stonewall was a rebellion + not a 'riot'!
It's the only story I read describing why Storme threw the first
punch at the Stonewall Uprising: a defensive reaction to a cop
roughing up a young Gay patron on the ground. I wonder who he
was? The only other clues are his name begins with a "W" and it
has ten letters!! The author also has an active link to the SVA
providing readers w/an additional reference and more Storme pix!
