*Dear Neighbor,*

*Even with all of the stress of expiring rent regulations, there’s still
much to do in the neighborhood. Don’t miss the last weekend of Moose Hall’s
Shakespeare in Inwood Hill Park or tomorrow’s CB12 Jobs Fair at Isabella.
All weekend and through June there are dozens of offerings through the
Uptown ArtStroll, including lots going on at everyone’s favorite Community
Bookshop, Word Up. And of course, h**appy Fathers’ Day** to the many Dads,
Grampas, Uncles, and father figures of all kinds in our lives.*

*If you live in a rent regulated apartment you have probably been closely
following proposals in the State Legislature to extend and strengthen our
rent laws, which expired last night at midnight. Our office has received
calls from residents who are concerned that they could face large rent
increases or be evicted from their homes if the rent regulations are not
extended. Rest assured, that is not the case. Tenants under a current lease
will retain their protections even if the laws expire. A landlord has no
legal right to move you out. Even if your lease is up for renewal, you
still have certain legal safeguards to protect you. Landlords have been
warned by State and City officials and the Senator’s office not to attempt
to make any changes until new legislation protecting rent stabilization is
passed. If you are being harassed by your landlord, call 311. The city is
working closely with Legal Aid and other organizations on this issue and is
urging tenants to report any harassment immediately. For more information
about the rent laws, please visit

sand on the local club scene in Dallas, until the day Ray called, offering
her two years of a touring gig abroad as one of his “Raeletter” backup
singers. Since then she has performed with many more of the Jazz world’s

*Sing for Hope Pianos 2015 *The Sing for Hope Pianos is a beloved public
art installation that brings brightly colored pianos to the parks and
public spaces of NYC’s five boroughs for anyone and everyone to play. For
two weeks in the summer, the pianos — each a unique art piece created by a
different artist or designer — serve as gathering places in their
communities, hosting impromptu concerts by professionals and amateurs alike
in an open festival of music for all of New York City. After the two-week
public exhibition, we donate the instruments to the NYC organizations we
serve year round, allowing the pianos to enrich lives for years to come.
While their time on the streets is a joyful event for our city, the Sing
for Hope Pianos’ true impact lies in their service as ongoing cornerstones
of arts access for communities and individuals in need. As NYC’s largest
public art project, the Sing for Hope Pianos impacts an estimated 2 million
New Yorkers and visitors each year. This year's Sing for Hope Pianos
exhibit will feature 50 painted Pianos, including four in northern
Manhattan: at the Highbridge Rec Center, in Inwood Hill Park, Riverside
Park Rotunda at W. 151st St., and Montefiore Park on Broadway & W. 135th St.*
