Brief Biography:

Corporal Juan Mariel Alcantara-Peña, who gave the ultimate sacrifice on August 6, 2007 during Operation Iraqi Freedom, moved to the US from the Dominican Republic as a child and graduated from Edward Reynolds West Side High School. He enlisted to earn enough money to attend college and had dreams of following his sister's footsteps and joining the NYPD. Cpl. Alcantara was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and posthumously recognized as an American citizen on September 17, 2007, which is known as Citizenship Day.

Biografía en Breve:

CPL Juan Mariel Alcántara-Peña, quien dio el último sacrificio el 6 de agosto de 2007 durante la Operación Libertad Iraquí, se trasladó a los EE.UU. de la República Dominicana como un niño y se graduó de Edward Reynolds West Side High School. Él alistó al ejercito para ganar suficiente dinero para ir a la universidad y tenía sueños de seguir los pasos de su hermana con una carera policial. Cpl. Alcántara fue galardonado con la Medalla Estrella de Bronce y póstumamente reconoció como ciudadano estadounidense el 17 de septiembre de 2007, que también se conoce como el Día de la Ciudadanía.
