support they deserve. WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU: children, relatives, and
social work professionals who have faced problems with the NYC foster care
system. We will collect personal experiences about the obstacles preventing
foster children from finding permanent homes. After the survey is
completed, a report will be released to document its findings and help
better understand the challenges within the foster care system. **Call

*“No” Never means “Yes”: Ending Campus Sexual Assault *A conversation with
Dr. Michael Kimmel, Zoe Ridolfi-Starr and Farah Tanis. Join us for a
discussion with survivor-activists, thought leaders, and advocates about
the current state of campus sexual assault and what can be done about
it. Despite
living in a culture in which a video of fraternity brothers chanting "No
means yes!" goes viral, an increasing number of students who have been
sexually assaulted on campus are coming forward. In fact, student survivors
have ignited a national movement to tackle both the epidemic of sexual
assault on campus and the lack of effective response from the colleges and
universities they hoped would support them. It’s time for meaningful
reform. At John Jay College, 524 W. 59th St., Room L76. Space is limited;
RSVP to http://nownyc.org/events/activist-night-campus-sexual-assault/.
*Thursday,
April 30th, 6:30-8:30pm.*

*Projections: The Hands That Feeds* At a popular bakery café, residents of
New York’s Upper East Side get bagels and coffee served with a smile 24
hours a day. But behind the scenes, undocumented immigrant workers face
sub-legal wages, dangerous machinery, and abusive managers who will fire
them for calling in sick. Mild-mannered sandwich maker Mahoma López has
never been interested in politics, but in January 2012, he convinces a
small group of his co-workers to fight back. Risking deportation and the
loss of their livelihood, the workers team up with a diverse crew of
innovative young organizers and take the unusual step of forming their own
independent union, launching themselves on a journey that will test the
limits of their resolve. In one roller-coaster year, they must overcome a
shocking betrayal and a two-month lockout. Lawyers will battle in back
rooms, Occupy Wall Street protesters will take over the restaurant, and a
picket line will divide the neighborhood. If they can win a contract, it
will set a historic precedent for low-wage workers across the country. But
whatever happens, Mahoma and his coworkers will never be exploited again. At
Word Up Community Bookshop/Librería Comunitaria, 2113 Amsterdam Ave., (at
W. 165 St.). Free and open to the public. *Thursday, April 30th, 6:30pm –
9pm.*

River, the largest heather garden on the east coast, and the Cloisters,
which houses a portion of the medieval art collection of the Metropolitan
Museum of Art. Inwood Park is forested and boasts Indian caves and more.
The final touch is a visit to the newly developed Muscota Marsh Park at the
northernmost tip of Manhattan Island. What do you think about allowing
development on the Palisades? And who decides if a pubic amenity is a fair
trade for a private development? Meet at the entrance to Fort Tryon Park's
Heather Garden, across from the 190th street stop on the "A" train. For

portion of Ellwood Street, i.e., to run northbound from Nagle Avenue to
Sherman Avenue. At the CB12 office, 530 W. 166th St. @ Audubon Ave., 6th

*Donate Life: Sign Up as an Organ, Eye, or Tissue Donor **What if you could
save the lives of up to eight people? *Every year thousands of people
receive the gift of life when they get a life-saving transplant such as a
kidney, a liver, or intestines. Most organs for transplants come from
deceased donors. Did you know that 123,318 people are waiting for an organ,
and that 21 people will die each day waiting for one? Check out this
animated video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuKx2a5HkIM) which explains
the transplant waiting, list, how to become a donor, the process of organ
matches, and how to sign up in your state. You can also find more
