*Cases of a respiratory illness known as Enterovirus D68 have been reported
*in a growing number of states, with infants, children and teenagers most
likely to become ill from the virus.

· The virus can be found in an infected person’s saliva, nasal
mucus or sputum. It spreads from person to person when someone who is
infected coughs, sneezes or when someone touches a contaminated surface.

· Enterovirus D68 can cause mild to severe respiratory illness.
Other symptoms may include fever, runny nose, sneezing, cough, and muscle
and body aches.

· People experiencing difficulty breathing should see their health

reminded to take their medications and seek care if they experience any
problems.

People can follow some simple steps to help prevent the spread of the
Enterovirus D68.

vigorously for at least 20 seconds. If you are in a public restroom, turn
off the faucet with a paper towel. Use another paper towel to dry your
hands and to open the door as you exit. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer can
be used if soap and water are unavailable.

· Always cough or sneeze into a tissue. Use the crook of your elbow
or upper arm if you don’t have one.

*Hip Hop Nutcracker* SONOS is collaborating with the United Palace of
Cultural Arts and Decadance Theater Company to create a new holiday
tradition called the Hip Hop Nutcracker. Imagine the beloved music and
story of The Nutcracker transformed to Washington Heights, where the music
is traditional Tchaikovsky, but the dance on stage is performed by 12 hip
hop dancers. 31 members of the SONOS Chamber Orchestra will be performing
in the orchestra pit, while a live DJ and an electric violinist perform
live onstage, as well. *You can help give life to a LIVE Nutcracker!*
Please contribute, and also write a note of your own and forward the link
to your contacts. The importance of this project cannot be underestimated:
we are collaborating; we are introducing audiences to classical music while
introducing audiences to hip hop dance; we are paying artists and we are
performing in our community while building a local new holiday tradition.
Help us find more audience members by telling your friends about the
concert and *becoming SONOS Cultural Ambassadors* to create that ripple
effect.

****GENERAL INFORMATION, ONGOING EVENTS & NEWS-YOU-CAN-USE*** (5 items)*

*An Important Update from the Social Security Administration regarding SSI
Benefits:* I wish to remind you of an important change that took place
October 1, 2014 that may affect some of the people in New York State who
receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI). SSI is a program based on need
administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA). SSI pays a
monthly cash benefit to people age 65 and older or people who are blind or
disabled, regardless of age, who meet certain basic program requirements.
The SSI payment may be comprised of a federal cash benefit and a state
supplement. In New York State, the state supplement is often combined with
the federal payment and issued as a single payment.

Beginning October 1, 2014, New York State will issue its own State
Supplement Payment (SSP) while SSA will pay the federal cash benefit that
is due. This means that people who receive SSI in New York and who
currently receive a combined federal and state supplement will receive two,
separate payments – one from SSA and another from New York State. Their *total
*payment amount will not change. If the individual only receives an SSP,
that will be paid by the State. *While the payments will be separated
beginning October 1, 2014, the SSI rules remain unchanged. *If you or those
you serve have questions about the New York State Supplement Payment, you
must call the New York State SSP Customer Support Center by phone at
855-488-0541.

*TIL & HDFC Fall 2014 Training Schedule *The Department of Housing
Preservation and Development (HPD) is committed to improving the

the City. This in-depth instruction is for tenants whose buildings are in
HPD’s TIL Program, as well as for shareholders in Housing Development Fund
Corporations (HDFCs). Courses include TIL Management Concepts Review,

buildings and will assist buildings in their transition to tenant-owned
cooperatives. HDFC classes include Shareholder Training, Cooperative
Management/Selling Apartments, Distressed HDFCs, Co-op Accounting and HDFC
