Broadway Democrats
is as active as ever and we need your help so that we may continue to champion the
Democratic agenda for justice and prosperity for all New Yorkers. On Sunday, May 5, 2013, Broadway Democrats
will host its annual Spring Fling, at the popular Upper West Side restaurant, 107 West,
2787 Broadway, between 107th and 108th Streets, from 2:00-5:00 pm.
 
The year, Broadway Democrats
will honor an elected individual, Congressman Jerrold Nadler, and a community
organization, Grant Houses Residents Association,
that have had a real effect on our lives. The club will present its Annual
Award to Congressman Nadler for his outstanding
progressive leadership. From defending civil rights and civil liberties,
including women’s rights and LGBT rights to promoting improved port security
and rail freight access, Nadler has been a champion of progressive causes throughout
his political career. The Grant Houses Residents Association, with its long track record of community
building activities and tenant advocacy, has had a positive impact upon a significant
number of neighborhood residents.
 
2012 was an exciting
year for Broadway Democrats. The Obama/Biden storefront on Broadway and 102nd Street was a catalyst
for activism on the Upper West Side, as we led
the charge to reelect President Obama and fought hard to protect Social Security,
Medicare and other progressive policies against reactionary conservatives. 
 
New Yorkstands at a crossroads. We must stand up on behalf of the candidates
who will fight for our progressive agenda. We hope that you can attend our benefit
in order to support all of the upcoming work we will be doing on future campaigns
in order to support Democratic candidates who will move New York, and the nation, forward.
 
2013 promises to be a incredibly busy year for New York Democrats but
we need to start that work now. We hope that you will take this opportunity to contribute
