>Election day is Thursday. Just two days away. Momentum and endorsements for Judge Rita Mella continue to build. New York State Senator Jose M. Serrano has announced his support of Judge Mella, joining former judges - including three retired Surrogates - law professors, federal, state, and city elected officials -- including the entire Manhattan City Council delegation, and many community political organizations.

>The Amsterdam News joined The New York Times and El Diario in support of Judge Mella, recognizing that she "will make the court more accessible and bring a fairness and openness to the proceedings."

>That is only part of it. Judge Mella has worked in the Surrogate's Court. She knows the law and has experience managing the court. Judge Mella will arrive with proposals to increase efficiency, handle matters more quickly, make the court more welcoming and user-friendly, increase diversity of those who work in and use the court, and reach out to those who are unaware of the services from which they might benefit. Manhattan deserves no less.

>But we need your help. Thank you to all who have contacted us to help us between now and election day. We still have many volunteer opportunities. We need people to make telephone calls to voters, hand out campaign literature, send letters and emails in support of Judge Mella to friends and neighbors, and represent Judge Mella at poll sites.
