>    Melissa has been a strong advocate for  many progressive causes such as living wage legislation, fair and  just immigration practices, improved HIV/AIDS services, participatory  budgeting, campaign finance reform, tenant protection, affordable housing,  LGBT rights, environmental justice, food safety and better fresh food  access.  She is co-leader of the Council's Progressive Caucus and a  strong supporter of unions and the Occupy Wall Street movement.  She has  also worked hard to deliver services for her many constituents in all parts of  her very varied district.
