Government Career Information Session:
"Finding and Applying for Federal Jobs"

WHAT: Federal employees serve in a wide variety of exciting jobs, earn good wages, receive medical benefits, and make a difference through public service!  The federal government hires people in many different fields, from accounting to public affairs, health care to law enforcement, and everything in between.  For so many, however, the steps to getting a federal job seem numerous and difficult.  To help his constituents to gain insight and explore many different paths to careers in the federal government, Congressman Charles B. Rangel has invited representatives from:
·       Office of Personnel and Management (OPM) - to deliver a presentation on "Finding and Applying for Federal Jobs" that includes screen shots of USAJOBS and takes attendees through the high points of navigating the USAJOBS system, tips for applying, and time for audience questions;
·       Peace Corps - to present a video and a briefing about the recruitment process and how to apply for a job at the Peace Corps;
·        AmeriCorps - to provide details on the job application process with AmeriCorps and to highlight its work at Harlem Children's Zone and the Citizens Schools New York.  In addition, a representative will discuss how to apply for the AmeriCorps Teaching Fellowship with Citizen Schools New York.

SESIÓN INFORMATIVA SOBRE
PROFESIONES GUBERNAMENTALES


Qué: Empleados Federales operan en una amplia variedad de puestos de trabajos interesantes, ganan buenos salarios, reciben beneficios médicos y hacen una diferencia a través del servicio público. El Gobierno Federal contrata a personas en una amplia gama de ocupaciones, desde contabilidad a asuntos públicos, asistencia médica a aplicación de la ley y todo en relación. Para muchos, sin embargo, los pasos para la adquisición de un empleo federal parece numerosos y difíciles.  Para ayudar a sus constituyentes a comprender con profundidad y explorar diferentes profesiones en el Gobierno federal, el Congresista Charles B. Rangel ha invitado a representantes de la:
·       Oficina de Personal y Administración (OPA) - para ofrecer una presentación sobre "Buscando y Solicitando Empleos Federales" que incluye capturas de pantallas de USAJOBS que lleva a los asistentes a  puntos claves para navegar por el sistema de USAJOBS, consejos de solicitud y tiempo para  preguntas de la audiencia;
·       PeaceCorps - para presentar un video y una reunión informativa sobre el proceso de contratación y cómo solicitar un empleo con PeaceCorps;
·       AmeriCorps -proporcionar detalles sobre el proceso de solicitud de trabajo con AmeriCorps y destacar su labor en la Zona de Niños de Harlem  (Harlem Children's Zone) y la Escuela de Ciudadanos en Nueva York (Citizens Schools New York).  Además, un representante discutirá cómo aplicar para Becas de Enseñanza ( Teaching Fellowships) de AmeriCorps a través de la Escuela de Ciudadanos de Nueva York.
