Dear Friend:

As we head into the holiday season, I am writing to share with you some of the inspiring
examples of how so many of our local residents are stepping up and working in partnership
with my office to improve our community.

Help change the community by involving others. Send us the email addresses of 3 
of your neighbors. We'll contact them and ask them to join us in our work to improve
our community.

On Friday, December 9th, dozens of young people, parents and community activists
 -- more than 40 in people in total --  joined our office for a Peace March to reclaim
the streets of El Barrio/East Harlem and call for an end to violence in our community.

Earlier last week, we held the second round of budget delegate meetings for the 
Participatory Budgeting process, where community members from across our district
gathered to meet with City agencies, prioritize project ideas and strategize on 
performing site visits to get a better understanding of community needs.

Meanwhile, the Thomas Jefferson Park Dog Run Committee, which our office helped 
establish, has been hard at work making the dog run cleaner and safer for our pets
and the community at large.  These dedicated local residents recently spent their
Saturday revitalizing the dog run by spreading a fresh coat a lime and fresh wood
chips.

I am always proud to represent the diverse neighborhoods that make up my district,
particularly when we see so many people taking true ownership over making our community
a better place for all.
