Broadway Democrats is as active as ever and we need your help so that we may continue to champion the Democratic agenda for justice and prosperity for all New Yorkers. On Sunday, May 1, 2011, Broadway Democrats will host its annual Spring Fling, at the popular Upper West Side restaurant, Campo, 2888 Broadway, between 112th and 113th Streets, from 3-6 pm.
 
The year, Broadway Democrats will honor an elected individual, New York City Comptroller John Liu, and one community organization, Marriage Equality New York, that have had a real effect on our lives. The club will present its Annual Award to Comptroller Liu for his leadership in standing up against Mayor Bloomberg’s proposed draconian cuts to education and other vital services, and for his achievements as the first Asian-American elected to citywide office. The Club will present the Ida and Jesse Frankel Community Service Award to Marriage Equality New York for their work towards securing the right of all New Yorkers to enter into legally recognized marriages for ourselves, our family and friends, and our community.
 
New York, and the nation, stand at a crossroads. We must stand up on behalf of the candidates who will fight for our progressive agenda in Albany and Washington. We hope that you can attend our benefit in order to support all of the upcoming work we will be doing on future campaigns in order to support Democratic candidates who will move New York State and the nation forward.
 
2012 promises to be a remarkable year for Democrats in New York, and around the country but we need to start that work now. We hope that you will take this opportunity to contribute to the success of this event as:
